The History of GREAT LAKES FUTSAL
Great Lakes Futsal, an affiliate of US Youth Futsal, is the only US Soccer sanctioned futsal league in NE Ohio.  Since its beginning in 2007, Great Lakes Futsal has been one of the largest youth futsal leagues in the United States.  In 2010-11 we had 217 teams with over 1800 players participating, making our NE Ohio Youth Futsal League one of the largest in the country.

In January of 2010, Great Lakes Futsal hosted the first Great Lakes Regional Futsal Tournament with 32 participating teams.  The Regional is a qualifier for the Annual US Youth Soccer National Futsal Championships in Kansas City every Presidents Day. Since 2008 NE Ohio Futsal Teams have won 7 National Futsal Titles at this Competition.

In 2011-12 the Great Lakes Futsal league expanded to the brand new Akron Sports Center at 925 Grant Street. This very accessible facility offers 4 large futsal courts and is conveniently located at the ’central interchange’ at the intersection on routes 8, 77 and 76 in downtown Akron, Ohio.

The 2012-2013 season marks another Great Lakes Futsal milestone. This fall we will open up futsal league play on Cleveland’s East side at One Wellness. This location now gives all of NE Ohio access to futsal training, education and competitive futsal play.
