Futsal 4s

4-a-side league for U6-U8 Players

What Is Futsal??

Futsal is the only "Official form of Indoor Soccer" as approved by FIFA (the international governing body of soccer, futsal, and beach soccer).  It is played in over 100 countries with 12 million players. Futsal is played on a gymnasium hard-wood floor or all-purpose sports flooring. The sport is a great skill developer as it demands quick reflexes, fast thinking, pin-point passing. The small, heavier futsal ball requires players to hone their ball-striking and ball handling technique. Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico, Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka and Katia grew up playing the game and credit futsal with developing their skills.

ALL U6-U8 players are invited to play.  There are two ways to register:

2. Register Individually:  Register and pay your $90 league fee individually at www.vbfutsal.com and teams will be formed from the individual player pool after the December 1 deadline.  If you choose this option, please let us know if you’re willing to be a Team Coordinator. No coaching experience is necessary...hand-selected Beach FC coaches will oversee the games during the season.

Season Play
Games begin December 19, 2017 and season ends February 18, 2018.   Games will be scheduled on Sundays and conflicts will be taken into account as much as possible.  Exception:  Games will be played on Monday, January 15, 2018. Teams will be scheduled to play a minimum of 8 games.

IMPORTANT COACH INFORMATION
There is no coaching license required to coach a team. Any adult who is registered with the team as a coach or manager can sit the bench.  This is a great option for teams with outdoor coaches who want to take a break, but still want their teams to have fun and play. However, coaching should be kept to a minimum and the adult should primarily serve as a facilitator. Futsal itself is a great teacher and the players should flourish in this environment.

Coaches with multiple teams
Futsal 4s will accommodate coaches with multiple teams by scheduling them with back-to-back games as much as possible.  We encourage you to split your outdoor teams into two futsal teams

Competition Format & Rules
Official futsal FIFA Rules and Regulations as stated under the Laws of The Game will be enforced. Exceptions are noted below under House Rules. You may print up a copy of the Laws of the Game at the Futsal 4s website (www.vbfutsal.com).

House Rules to the Laws of the Game

1. Goalkeeper cannot throw the ball into the opponent’s half.
2. No scoring from kick-offs.
3. Ball may be kicked backwards at kick-off.
4. Goalkeeper cannot drop kick or punt the ball.
5. No switching of benches between halves.
6. Game length is (two) 20 minute halves.
7.  Goalkeeper cannot use hands when receiving a back-pass from a teammate.
8.  Heading is prohibited in U11 and younger divisions.

League Fees
Fee is $90 per player for Individual Registration. Each player must also pay a player pass fee separately from the league fee. The $9.50 per player registration fee is paid directly to United States Youth Futsal. Registration from other soccer associations such as US Club, VYSA State Youth Association, etc. are not valid for USYF events.

Player Cards
Futsal 4s will institute the issuance of player cards. To be eligible to play, each player must have a card. Player cards are issued only after full payment of fees, all players have been registered online, and signed Medical/Media Release forms have been received.

Players/Sister Teams/Double Rostering
1) A sister team is created from an outdoor team that split into two or more futsal teams. If you have a sister team in the league, you may borrow any amount of players from the sister team ONLY during regular season play.
2) Players may be double rostered on teams that are in different age divisions, but cannot play down an age group.

Game Balls
Do not bring outdoor balls into the facilities.  Only futsal balls are allowed in the gym. Warm up and match balls will be provided by Futsal 4s.

Equipment
The wearing of shin pads will be mandatory for all players. Indoor, flat soled shoes also must be worn.  Only non-marking soled shoes allowed on sport court surface.

Time Outs / Home Team Colors
Due to tighter scheduling, we are eliminating time outs except for referee-called stoppages.
Home team is to wear white or lighter colors. If Home team complies and there is a conflict, the visiting team must change jerseys. If home team does not wear light/white and there is a conflict, home team must change jerseys. Pinnies are available if needed.  Visiting team centers off first.

Forfeited Games
If a team fails to show for a scheduled match, the referee shall allow a 5 minute grace period. After the 5 minutes, if the team has not yet arrived or does not have enough players to field a team (4), the game will be forfeited.

If the referee terminates a match for reasons other than an act of God or field conditions, the Futsal 4s Competition Committee will decide the result of the match after hearing the official reason from the referee, and both coaches.

Teams forfeiting a match will not receive a refund on their registration fee.

Ejections - Red Cards

If a player is ejected from a match, the player’s pass together with a referee’s report of the incident shall be turned over to the Futsal 4s administrator by the referee.

  • The minimum penalty for an ejection is that the player shall not be permitted to play in the immediate next match.
  • The maximum penalty, after review by the Futsal 4s Competition Committee, may result in the individual player’s or team’s expulsion from the competition.

If a player is ejected from a match the referee will hold onto the player pass, document red card on the back of the score sheet and present it to the Futsal 4s administrator. The player will have his/her pass returned after a one game suspension.

Coach Ejections
If a coach is ejected from any match, a referee’s report of the incident shall be turned over to the Futsal 4s administrator by the referee. The minimum penalty for an ejection is that the coach shall not be permitted to coach or remain on the player’s bench in the immediate next match.  The maximum penalty, after review by Futsal 4s Competition Committee, may result in the individual coach’s or team’s expulsion from the League.

Games Cancelled by opponents
If an opponent cancels a game or does not show for the game, the other team may use the game time. There are no refunds for games cancelled by opponents. If a team must cancel, call Futsal 4s as soon as possible so we can notify the referees and give the other team a chance to plan accordingly. Cancelling a game not only short-changes your team, but your scheduled opponent. Games cancelled by teams will not be rescheduled until the $100 reschedule fee is in Futsal 4s.

Reschedules
At time of registration, each team is allowed 1 conflict if entered into registration system before registration deadline.

Games cancelled by Futsal 4s
We reserve the right to postpone or cancel games at any time for any reason such as bad weather or facility problems. If we decide to cancel games, we will reschedule them as best as possible based on field availability.
