OVERVIEW

Attracting soccer and futsal players of all ages and skill level from clubs in NH, MA, and ME, the FutsalNH Academy has achieved regional and national recognition for its success in developing futsal players. Offering winter futsal training programs for every level of player, we present players with an opportunity to develop their skills, maintain their fitness, and play futsal competitively. We believe that futsal is not only a great game in its own right—it also develops more skilled and creative soccer players. The FutsalNH Academy takes player development seriously and expects each and every player to improve their skills in our programs, while enjoying the intensity and fun of the game of futsal.

"My son has been part of Futsal NH for the last several years and in that time I have consistently felt that it is the finest program of it's kind available. It is the perfect compliment to the US Soccer Development Academy program, allowing him to stay in shape in the off months and continue to develop the technical skills expected, but not necessarily reinforced, in the higher levels of youth soccer." --Parent of Club FutsalNH Player

Benefits of our curriculum:

The following are the basic foundations of a good futsal player.  Our 10-14 week curriculum will emphasize the development of each of these skills, with the expectation that each player will have shown notable progress in each area after the completion of the program.  While these skills are specifically emphasized and developed in futsal, they are also essential to a good outdoor soccer player.

1. Ball Mastery
Futsal is known worldwide for its value in developing technical proficiency with the ball. Among other things, the absence of boards, the tight space, and the sheer number of touches each player gets on the ball, (whether attacker, defender, or keeper) forces each player to develop ball mastery.

2. Speed of play
Futsal requires quick decisions and quick execution. The speed and intensity of the game helps each player learn how to think more quickly and act more decisively.

3. Agility and Balance
Futsal requires players keep their balance in tight spaces, with their center of gravity over the ball. Agility and quick footwork are developed as players adapt to the game.

4. Movement off of the Ball
Futsal requires that players without the ball constantly support teammates, anticipating proper position for receiving the ball, shooting, and defending. All players on the court, including keepers, must constantly be moving into better position.

5. Creativity
Futsal encourages creative play. Skilled attacking moves, deft passing, and combination plays are all enhanced in futsal.

The FutsalNH Academy now offers three programs for player development:

National and Regional Recognition

Attracting soccer and futsal players of all ages and skill level from clubs in NH, MA, and ME, the FutsalNH Academy has achieved regional and national recognition for its success in developing futsal players.

In 2017, many of our Club FutsalNH teams achieved distinction:

1999 Girls (U18) -- Regional winners

2005 Girls (U12) -- Regional winners

2002 Boys (U15) -- Regional finalists

2004 Boys (U13) -- Regional semi finalists

2007 Boys (U10) -- Regional semi finalists

In addition to the success of these teams, over the last five years Club FutsalNH has placed over 30 players on the national team of their individual age groups (itself notable given that Northern New England lacks the population density of many other regions in the country). While much of this success is due to the talent and dedication of our players, this would not be possible if Club FutsalNH did not devote itself to teaching our players to play futsal well—both technically and tactically. Not surprisingly, many of these players have now gone on to achieve national recognition in soccer as well, earning Division 1 Scholarships to college or placement in some of the best soccer clubs and USSDA Academy programs in the country.

FutsalNH is led by coaches and trainers who are the first in the nation to achieve National Level 3 futsal coaching certification, and our two directors of coaching, Tom Bellen and Bruno Victal, are members of the USYF National Team Coaching Staff under National Team Head Coach Keith Tozer.

Program Overview

Club FutsalNH is an advanced futsal development program that offers 2000-2009 players a unique opportunity to train and compete on a Club FutsalNH team with other high-level, elite futsal and soccer players. We have developed a complete curriculum to be implemented progressively over the course of the program, emphasizing technical skills and tactical competence, as well as speed, agility, and balance. These skills—which are developed during training sessions—are put into action during competitive league play and tournaments.

After one winter of our program, we expect that players will see marked improvement in the following areas: ball control, attacking skills, movement off-the-ball, decision-making, passing, balance, athleticism, reflexes, and (for keepers especially) ball-handling, anticipation, playing the angles, challenges, and ball-distribution.

Some highlights of Club FutsalNH:

  • Teams comprised of players from a variety of premier soccer clubs in NH, MA, and ME

  • Teams have consistent rosters and designated coaches: players train and compete with the same players and coaches throughout the season

  • Weekly training sessions

  • Emphasis on player development: experienced soccer and futsal coaches help players improve both technically and tactically

  • Teams compete in league play appropriate to their skill. Please note that league play may require travel in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, although games are usually double-headers if players travel some distance.

  • Teams compete in tournaments, including the Northeast Regional Futsal Championships on January 12-15, 2018. Younger teams (2004-2009) will play in the Futsal Frenzy Tournament on February 23-25, 2018.

  • Dedicated keeper training

Club FutsalNH is an excellent complement for elite- and premier-level soccer players, many of whom train all winter with their soccer clubs. Club FutsalNH attempts to avoid conflict with the winter soccer commitments of our players.

Please note that Club FutsalNH is for Elite players only for players born in 2004-2000. Players in the 2005-2009 age bracket may be placed on either an Elite or Premier team.

For players born in 2010 and after seeking a futsal program, please visit our Junior Futsal Program.

FNH Select Training Program

For players 2008-2000—Training with Optional Games
Program runs on Thursdays, 6:00 - 7:00 pm, in two sessions: Session 1 (November 9 to January 11), Session 2 (January 18 to February 22)

In weekly training sessions, the FutsalNH Select Training Program provides training with some of our top coaches. It is a great way for developing players to learn the sport or improve their skills without the added commitment of playing games, although if enough players are interested in playing games as well, there will be an option to form teams and play in the FutsalNH Saturday league.

Program runs on Thursdays, 6:00 - 7:00 pm, in two sessions: Session 1 (November 9 to January 11), Session 2 (January 18-February 22)

Program Overview

The FNH Select Training Program is a futsal development program that offers players a unique opportunity to train on a weekly basis with premier-level players from other soccer clubs in NH, ME, and MA. Through a curriculum of drills, exercises, and scrimmages, players develop ball-control skills and creative play. This program offers similar training as that offered in Club FutsalNH, but players do not participate in competitive league games or tournaments—just training. However, if enough players in an age group express interest in also playing games, we will organize teams to compete in the FutsalNH League, which plays on Saturdays.

We place each player in a training group of 12-18 players that best matches the player's ability and is most conducive to his or her development. If a player shows that they belong in a more advanced group, we will have no hesitation in moving them. Our Directors of Coaching (Tom Bellen and Bruno Victal) have extensive national and international training and experience with futsal. We have developed a complete curriculum to be implemented progressively over the course of the program, emphasizing technical skills and tactical competence, as well as speed, agility, and balance.

Program Benefits and Cost

  • One FutsalNH Training Shirt (new players only)

Registration: Registration link coming soon for the FNH Select Training Program.

Before you register! Please read these important instructions.

Note: there are two steps to the online registration process. You will be asked to fill out the same form twice: the first form is for FutsalNH to secure your child’s spot in the program; the second form is for the U.S. Youth Futsal waiver, which must be completed before your child can participate in the program.

Step 1: This two-page form is the online registration form for FutsalNH’s program. At the end of the form, you will be asked to make a full payment for the program. You are required to pay online with a credit card unless you have made prior arrangements with our administrator, Elizabeth Dubrulle. Please contact Elizabeth if you need to make such an arrangement.

Step 2: Once you complete the form and submit your payment, you will need to follow the link on the confirmation page, which will take you to a nearly identical online form. You must fill out this form again to complete the mandatory USYF waiver, including payment of an online fee of $10.50 by credit card, which goes to USYF. All players must complete the online waiver and pay the $10.50 fee to U.S. Youth Futsal. Once paid, this USYF fee will provide the player with USYF coverage until July 31, 2018, which is applicable for any and all USYF affliated events, including league play, tournaments, training, clinics, camps, and I.D. events.

Please be very careful that your child’s first name, last name, and birthdate are identical on both forms. In other words, Benjamin Smith cannot register as “Ben Smith” on one form and “Benjamin Smith” on the other. The registration system will not match up the two registrations, and we will not have any record of your having completed the waiver. FutsalNH staff is unable to change or correct any information on the USYF waiver, so if you fill the form out incorrectly and the registration system does not recognize your waiver, you will need to complete the form again and pay the fee a second time. USYF does not provide refunds!

Program runs on Thursdays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm in two sessions: Session 1 (November 9-January 11); and Session 2 (January 18 to February 22)

Program Overview

Our Junior Futsal Program emphasizes developmental skills and tactical training in an environment that promotes learning and fun. Children are placed in groups with similarly skilled players in order to maximize their development.

Players in these years are in the “golden age” of development. The appropriate training program can have a tremendous impact on the future success of a player and his or her passion for the game. Players at these ages begin to mature and take on a personality and style of play of their own.

The Junior Futsal Program will provide challenging technical drills, games, and exercises in order to increase confidence and enhance foot skills of advanced junior players. Drills will build upon the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, and passing in a fast-paced format. The program will build the foundation for teaching tactical components that will improve player understanding of the game.

Principles of Age-Appropriate Development

Our Junior Futsal Program implements basic principles of human development. Children at these ages love to “play.” Therefore, most training sessions will incorporate fun and creative games into the training plan. Other principles that will be followed include:

  • Players spend as much time as possible with a ball at their feet and have the opportunity to experiment by themselves;
  • Players are given the opportunity to build relationships with other players and develop a sense of team-work by being given a variety of responsibilities on the court.
  • Basic motor skills like walking, running, jumping, changing direction, etc. have to be combined with ball handling and ball control.
  • Players are beginning to have a special ability to learn. Therefore, this is the right age to work on soccer specific techniques and skills. Developing good technique is critical at this age.
  • 1v1 and 2v1 attacking and defending situations are important to develop individual skills as well as the passing techniques necessary to develop a team game.
  • Small-sided games are used to develop basic attacking and defensive principles.‚Äč
