Firecrackers Competed in the US Youth Futsal National Championships…

Firecrackers are headed to Kansas City to play in the US Youth Futsal National Championships, February 16-19, 2018! Firecrackers, a girls U13 Futsal team, plays in the 619 Futsal league in San Diego, run by Sean Bowers, former San Diego Sockers and US National futsal team player and current General Manager for the San Diego Sockers. The U.S. Youth Futsal National Championships is the largest national youth futsal tournament in the United States.  The girls will be competing against top-notch futsal talent from different regions throughout the United States.

Firecrackers was formed in 2015 when the girls were U9.  All of the players have played outdoor together on a number of teams and clubs in San Diego since they were as young as U6.  Currently at U13, the girls are spread out across different outdoor teams, but it is their passion and love for futsal that keeps them connected.  Firecrackers have played every league session at 619 Futsal for the past three years, and their growth in futsal and their commitment to one another has led to success on the court. The focus for each player has always been on development by encouraging equal playing time, learning to play both sides of the court (right and left), and playing both offense and defense.  Futsal has helped to develop the technical side of their game and taught them how to support and work together in tight spaces.  Their enthusiasm for Futsal and their dynamic movement on the court make them a joy to watch. The girls are looking forward to their trip to Kansas City and the opportunity to compete against some of the best youth futsal players in the nation.
