U.S. Youth Futsal offers a coach education program designed to offer coaches of all levels and interests the opportunity to develop their skills. Started in 2013 by Technical Director Keith Tozer, U.S. Youth Futsal is the only organization to provide formal coaching courses across the country.
The Regional Level 4 coaching course is an eight-hour introductory course that covers the basic techniques and basic tactics of futsal. Participants participate in training activities and are provided with resources designed to help them lead youth futsal training sessions. This course is led by members of the U.S. Youth Futsal coaching staff. [Prerequisite: none]
The National Level 3 coaching course is a 20-hour event that covers the basic techniques and advanced tactics of futsal. Coaches participate in discussions and training activities and on the second day of the course must design and lead a training session for their peers, via which they are assessed. This course is designed for coaches who wish to lead high level youth futsal training sessions and matches, and is led by a FIFA Futsal Instructor, most commonly Men's National Team Head Coach Keith Tozer. Between 6-8 of these courses are offered per year, typically in conjunction with a U.S. Youth Futsal I.D. Camp. [Prerequisite: futsal coaching experience]
The National Level 2 coaching course covers 40 hours of high level futsal training and tactics, including match analysis and curriculum planning. Coaching participate in discussions, training activities, examinations and assessments. This course is designed for coaches who wish to lead high level youth and amateur futsal teams. It also includes a director of futsal coaching component and is led by a FIFA Futsal Instructor, most commonly Men's National Team Head Coach Keith Tozer. One or two of these courses will be offered per year, starting in 2015. [Prerequisite: successful completion of National Level 3]
The International Level 1 coaching course is a week-long immersion event that takes place outside the United States under the leadership of FIFA Futsal Instructors from the U.S. and the host country. This course is designed for coaches who desire the greatest depth of futsal knowledge and development. The first of these courses is expected in 2016.
