Minneapolis, MN – United States Youth Futsal (USYF) Executive Director Brian Catrine and Twin Cities Soccer Leagues CEO Matt Tiano announced today that the USYF affiliate Minnesota Futsal and Twin Cities Soccer Leagues (TCSL) have formed a partnership to help grow the game of futsal in the Minnesota metro community.

“Minnesota Futsal is proud of being a collaborative organization that focuses on bringing the best coaches, players, and community leaders together to grow the beautiful game of futsal. Aligning ourselves with Twin Cities Soccer Leagues presents a unique opportunity to share resources with a like-minded service-oriented organization and we believe our partnership will positively impact the futsal landscape in Minnesota. We are especially excited to announce TCSL will be our official 2019-2020 league scheduler. Matt and his team have demonstrated that they can creatively and efficiently manage this process on a scale consistent with our growth strategy.” -Brian Catrine, Minnesota Futsal League

TCSL is well known in the Minnesota soccer community for providing unparalleled customer service to its member clubs.  The organization is built upon a core set of values including transparency, competition, sportsmanship, and limelight which are reflected in their day to day operations.

“It is evident that many core values between our organizations are similar in terms of club collaboration, team-centric scheduling and transparency. We also strongly believe in the power of futsal to a player’s individual development.” -Matt Tiano, Twin Cities Soccer Leagues

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided soccer game that is played across the world and is officially recognized by both FIFA and UEFA.  It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, low bounce ball.  It is played with touchline boundaries and without walls placing a large emphasis on technical skill in high pressure situations which can be translated into the outdoor game.  The sport is a great skill developer as it demands quick reflexes, fast thinking and accurate passing.

Futsal is played in all the continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players.  Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico, Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, Iniesta, Xavi, Ronaldinho, and even current United States players like Pulisic credit futsal as a critical component to their development.
